Karolina Krukowska

Karolina Krukowska is a published and awarded multidisciplinary artist and designer. She was born in Poland and now lives and creates in Philadelphia and New Jersey where her studio is located. After dabbling in tapestry school, she studied Interior Design at the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, and later expanded to Fashion Design and Fashion Merchandising.

Art has been a great passion since her childhood. Her first foray into working with glass was as a ten-year-old. Back then she painted what she knew on glass, objects, and scenery, tangible to her comprehension; figurative art, realistic landscapes, and horses galloping throughout the endless ocean of gold hay.

The possibility of veering off toward an unknown approach to art was always the most alluring to her. Exploration of different art forms: painting, tapestry, sculpture, design, and photography, defined her as an artist and influenced current artwork.

Those extensive experimental practices lead the artist to more conceptual visions and abstract thinking. The ambiguity and lack of objective representations allow her to focus on the fundamental ideas behind the artwork and its characteristics. Rather than focusing on the truthful depiction of a subject, she intends to delineate non-objective matters of a psychological nature such as human preferences. Her fascination is with our binary view of the outer world   (and how it necessitates us to make a decision and be either right or wrong).

She likes to think of her artwork, especially paintings as interactive mirrors into people's souls, delivering stimulating sensory experiences at any time.
